Radio Reef, Your QTH in the Caribbean

Radio Reef
Your QTH in the Caribbean

Radio Reef is a labor of love ... for ham radio and the Caribbean operating experience.

Remember, you ARE the DX when you operate from here. Radio Reef is a place where you can play as much (or as little) radio as you like.

Most of all, we want you to feel like this is your own personal ham station and home away from home in the Caribbean during the time you spend here.

Radio Reef is located on the north side of St. Croix approximately 3 miles west of Christiansted.
Remember... we're on an island that is 28 miles long and 7 miles wide, so all of St. Croix's restaurants, beaches and other places of interest are never very far away!

The accommodations at Radio Reef consist of 950 sq. ft. of living area with great views of the Caribbean and an awesome veranda for relaxing, having a barbecue or just enjoying the great weather as you watch the sailboats go by.

On clear days, you'll have an excellent view of St. Thomas, St. John and the British Virgin Islands to the north.

The air-conditioned master bedroom features a king bed and separate access to the veranda, while the living room and entertainment area feature a large SONY TV and comfortable furnishings for your lounging pleasure. The sofa has a queen sleeper should an extra bed be needed. The kitchen is fully furnished with all new appliances and high-speed wireless internet is provided free of charge.

Although the accommodations are best suited for a couple, if you need us to get creative, we'll figure out where to bunk that extra contester whether it's in a daybed or rollaway somewhere in the apartment or in one of the bedrooms in the main house.

Station A

Station A has recently replaced the FT-920 with a Elecraft K3, installed DVR and external high performance 6M preamp.

Along side the K3 is a proven performer, the Alpha 87a fully automatic tuning 160-10m Amplifier.

Station B

Yeasu FT-1000MPMKV - Plans are to replace this with a 2nd K3.

Another powerhouse, the Alpha 89, is available at the second operating position.

Above is the Force12 4BA antenna sitting on a ROHN 45 tower. There are a total of 3 towers at KP2M, the third tower has C3 and a 2L full size 30m Yagi. Additionally there is a 300w 6M amplifier connected to a KLM 6M yagi.

Above is the Force 12 Magnum 620/340 and KLM 6 meter on crank-up US Tower

The air-conditioned radio shack is in a separate room adjacent to the master bedroom, but accessed by walking out on the veranda and through a separate door.

This should help keep all-hours radio operation from disturbing sleeping partners, etc. The design provides for up to three separate operating positions in the ham shack.
