SPECIAL CALL EVENT
YE3ØP is a call sign of the “ORARI Daerah Papua” Flagship Amateur Radio Station celebrating the 30th Anniversary and Provincial Congress of “ORARI Daerah Papua”.
This unique amateur radio special event radio station operated from “Merauke” between May 15 th 00:00 UTC to May 17 th 2013 24:00 UTC. Will operate in all modes (CW/SSB/RTTY) by 2 Stations simultaneously.
Merauke is a city considered to be one of the easternmost city in Indonesia, located in Merauke Regency, Papua province, Indonesia.
Merauke was established in February 1902 as a military post by the Dutch, to prevent raids by the Marind-animinto neighbouring British New Guinea and the northwest Torres Strait Islands (Boigu, Dauan and Saibai).
Merauke was the site of an Allied air base during World War II and there was ground fighting between Australia and Japanese patrols in the area.
