Welcome to the homepage for the Swaziland 3DA0ET DXpedition, scheduled to run from Monday 18 November to Wednesday 27 November 2013. We're a multi-national team comprising Canadian, American, German and South African operators, who collectively bring a wealth of prior DXpedition experience to the table (see "The Team" page), covering all operating modes.
We're running 4 stations, covering all the HF bands (160 to 10 meters) and 6 meters if we spot any openings, on CW, SSB and RTTY. On the topic of RTTY, we hope to be a little different to many DXpeditions and have a solid focus on maximizing our RTTY QSO count by having a dedicated full-time RTTY station on the air from start to finish. We also won't forget folks running "barefoot" without a linear and QRP stations - our operators will put out special calls for these categories from time to time when working heavy pile-ups.
We'll also be QRV in the CQ World Wide DX CW contest with a multi-two entry.
Above all, we hope to have fun and see you in the pile-ups while we're QRV. And yes - we welcome band-slot chasers! We'll have that progress covered for you with ClubLog.
EQUIPMENT
We're excited about our kit! Amongst other items, we have a super line-up of all down-conversion tranceivers: 2 Kenwood TS-590's, 2 Elecraft K3's and 1 Yaesu FTDX 3000D. There's three Expert 1K-FA linears and one Expert 2K-FA linear, three KIO hexagonal beams, 2 RIGblaster Advantages and a couple of Begali HST single lever paddles (for when the CWops feel like kickin' it old-school!) We also have a Honda EU20i generator capable of keeping 2 stations/linears on the air in the event of power failures. A 75 foot low-band TX antenna, low-band RX antenna, dedicated laptops for each station and two computer networks with on-line internet capability (one for the general Expedition and one for the Multi CQ WW CW contest) round out the main equipment complement. QSL INFO
We've teamed up with Dick Moen, N7RO who has kindly agreed to come on board as the 3DA0ET QSL manager, along with Tony Stefanov LZ1JZ who will be printing and supplying our QSL cards. More details about Tony can be found on our sponsors page.
In addition to paper QSL cards, we'll be uploading daily to LoTW and Club Log. We will not be using eQSL.
We'll be catering for direct and QSL Bureau card routing. More specific details will follow in due course, closer toward the end of the DXpedition - watch this web page for updates.
