5C13CY

Hi all, here a few words about my activity…
I’m in Morocco since 2 years now for my job. I was very busy so I amCN2YZ only since the 14 February 2012.I’m located in Tanger city , loc : IM75CS. So far I am the only Ham station « active » from Tanger city. Since a few days there is an other French ham (F1GXW), name Patrick who is now CN2GW, also located in Tanger city.He is resident in Tanger. He will need a bit time to setup his station and antenna system.
My working conditions are very simple because I « live » in a hotel room :
FT897d + 17m dipole + MFJ-945tuner. This setup is good for 20/17/15/6m and just « acceptable » for 30/12/10m. The dipole is taped on a fishing rod out of the window, and facing Europe. You can have a “shack tour” on youtube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHleG2Kj-Xg
The major problem is the QRN, at least 53 and sometimes up to 59 ! Sometimes, the night I have to switch off the light in my bedroom to bring the QRN down …Aniway, I have been worked by : EU, AF,NA, SA, AS and OC (vk..)
I focus on 6m during Es openings, and because SSB would disturb some others hotel customers in the nexts bedrooms, I prefer digimodes like : psk31/63/125 , RTTY, CW (via computer) and made also severals JT6M QSO on 6m during low and shorts Es bursts ..
My PWR is only : 20w in psk / 40 in RTTY / 50 in JT6M-CW and 80w in SSB.
I’m on the air mostly week-ends and some week’s evening time, till end of August 2012. Then I will be «sporadicaly » in Tanger till end of 2012.
In July I have also the permission to use the calsign : 5C13CY (celebrating the 13th anniversary of the enthronization of His Majesty Mohammed VI) This activity is also valid for the DXCC an any diploms.
My great thank’s go to: iZ8CCW Antonio for this web service and QSL card management, and CN8LR Kacem for his kindness and licences…
73 and and see you soon on the air.

QSL …. ready to start !

Morocco

Morocco is a country located in North Africa.
It has a population of about 35 million and an area of 710,850 km², including the disputed region of the Western Sahara, seen by and mostly administered by Morocco as the Southern Provinces. Morocco is part of the Maghreb region, in addition to Tunisia, Algeria, Mauritania, and Libya, with which it shares cultural, historical and linguistic ties.
Morocco is a constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament. The political capital is Rabat, but the largest city is Casablanca; other main cities include Marrakesh, Tetouan, Tangiers, Salé, Fez, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda, and Nador.
Most Moroccans natively speak either Moroccan Arabic or Berber as a mother tongue. Both languages have regional dialects and accents. Hassaniya Arabic is also spoken natively in the southern parts of the country by a small population.
Here is a nice video showing Morocco and its beauties.
