The faithful of the coast made it a holy place and stayed tuned to this isolated piece of land. World War II forever changed Cézembre. HISTORY OF THE ISLAND HARBOUR (DIFM MA025 - EU157)
The Harbour Island is a rocky islet fortified in front of Dinard, 3 km in front of Saint Malo.
The fort was built during the XVII th and XVIII th centuries at the initiative of military engineers Prestre Sebastien de Vauban and Simeon Garangeau. It protects two passes for access to St Malo and participates in the defense system of the port of St Malo which also includes the highlights of The Conchée, Petit Bé and Fort National.
The fort has lost all military function and is now owned by private individuals. One time it belonged to actor Alain Delon.
The island is a designated site since September 27, 1934 and the fort is a historical monument since June 4, 1952.
